TTT33 Day bag
===

Jenn: Hey everyone, welcome back to Travel Tip Tuesday with the Travel Mug Podcast. Today, Meggan, I want to talk about day bags and the things that you should pack into them.

Meggan: Love that. I think this is a great idea.

Jenn: So of course this is gonna vary depending on where you're going and when and what you're doing and all of those things.

But there are some things that are pretty universal that you're gonna need no matter what. . For the bag itself, I usually tend to just use my purse, but sometimes my husband carries a backpack, especially at Disney. Or if we're gonna be away from our room for a long time or if we need like, a change of clothes or like multiple clothing options because of the weather.

Meggan: Right.

Jenn: Most of these things. Also, once I wrote the list out, I'm like, oh, this is also what I pack in my carry on for travel day.

Meggan: It's very universal.

Jenn: It's so universal.

Meggan: Yeah.

Jenn: And we actually have a travel packing list. I don't know if you guys know, but you can click on the link in our show notes and it will literally send you a list of things to pack in your carry-on and in your checked or whatever if you're not flying.

Meggan: let us help you.

Jenn: We got lists. I love a list. So here's what I have in my carry on or personal item. And it is uh, camera or phone, obvious. I do still use a camera. We do use our phones a lot for photos, but I do also like having, we have a nice camera and I should use it.

Meggan: Why not use it?

Jenn: A portable charger. Now, this is very important at Disney especially because you have to be on your phone a lot at Disney for looking at ride times and booking things, and mobile ordering food. But especially if you're using your phone as a GPS for directions, have a portable charger and probably also a car charger for your phone would be useful.

Meggan: Usually these days too. Luckily not all vehicles, but most allow you to just use what you would use at home because they have USB ports.

Jenn: Yes.

Meggan: So not normally not a problem. But if you are renting a car, I would suggest to maybe check on what you do need.

Jenn: Yes. Snacks I always carry.

Meggan: Let's be serious.

Jenn: Let's be real. I always carry a snack, at least a granola bar in my. because you don't wanna get hangry.

Meggan: No.

Jenn: Nobody likes that.

Meggan: Nope.

Jenn: Medication. I always keep prescription medications on you just in case. . What if someone breaks into your hotel room and steals your stuff or whatever, like hopefully that never happens, but just keep your prescription medications on you.

But I also like to travel usually with Advil and even like Imodium can come in handy cuz if you need it,

Meggan: you never know

Jenn: you need it and you don't wanna be going around to different pharmacies and trying to figure it out in a different country, maybe in a different language. Bring it from home, I think.

Meggan: Yes. Agreed.

Jenn: Also, first aid, like just band-aids , like have a band-aid on you or two .

Meggan: You never know when a blister is gonna crop off.

Jenn: Well, you know, when we rented a car in Scotland, Ryan cut his finger on the car in the inside. He was pulling up the parking brake. It was a little like hook button, and he, the metal was turned up and he like sliced his finger open. So, I've had bandaids in my bag.

Meggan: Lovely

Jenn: hand sanitizer. In this new world. I like to have a hand sanitizer, obviously have ID on you, your wallet, money, all of those important things.

Meggan: Mm-hmm.

Jenn: um, Weather related items, so like rain gear, hat, mittens, an extra layer, you know, depending on where you're gonna go. Maybe just a little cardigan. . It's nice to have those kind of things.

Meggan: Oh, definitely.

Jenn: And then if you're in a warm place, sunscreen is always nice to have a little travel sized and water bottle, which we talked about safe water, couple of travel tip Tuesdays back. So

Meggan: hydration is key.

Jenn: Meggan, is there anything that you would add to this list that I haven't already?

Meggan: Honestly, that's really comprehensive. Some of those things I probably wouldn't even have with me normally, so it was a very good list.

Jenn: Thank you.

Meggan: But if I were to add anything for day travel, so maybe not for the airport, but like for hiking, I would maybe add some bug spray. You never know. And bugs can be pesky.

And if you're doing some like wilderness hiking you and I, not so much probably,

Jenn: yeah, .

Meggan: But again, people do it. So maybe like some bear spray, if that's something you can purchase where you live because once you get out there, it can be a little bit scary. I know when we did Franey or Franny or however you say it, in Cape Breton, we heard like the biggest crash in the woods and we almost turned around. We were both scared and like if I'd had the spray with me, I probably would've felt like much more comfortable. So it is something, if you're going somewhere, you're uncertain of what's out there, it could be helpful. But bugs spray in particular, you don't want to get bit by mosquitoes or other pesky little things

Jenn: That is true. So happy travels. If there's anything that you must have in your day bag that I didn't cover, please let us know on social media at Travel Mug Podcast.
