Jenn: Hey everyone. Welcome back to Travel Tip Tuesday with the Travel Mug Podcast. I, as you know, if you've listened to last week's episode, I have recently returned from my trip to Florida, and you may or may not know that I have three animals at home.

Uh, So we have two cats. One very senior, 18 year old cat, one 10 year old cat, and then a new dog who is like one to two years old. So obviously I have to think about them when we travel, they need to be cared for. So in the past we have always relied on family and friends to help us care for our animals when we travel.

But now, especially with the dog that we adopted in July, it, it feels like too big of an ask to ask someone to care for three animals. So of course, I turn to the internet. As one does, and I found rover.com. So basically it's a website that connects you with pet care in your neighborhood. So whether it's boarding, house, sitting even like drop-in visits and dog walking if if you're just at work and not traveling.

So, Everything is done on the website or the app. So from booking, communication with the person and payment is all done through them. What I really loved is the sitters have background checks. You can read reviews, there's insurance um, for vet care or property damage to the pet owner's home if it's caused by the sitter or dog walker.

So, yeah, we've been using this service over the last couple of months. We've done a couple of different sitters and we've always had really great experiences. So the sitter that we used while we were in Florida checked in with us every day. She sent us photos and she also took really good care of our house. which is really,

Meggan: we love that. We love, like, you know, our pets being taken care of, but also feeling secure that your house is being taken care of as well. The lights are on someone's home and no one's gonna break in. Like, we like that too.

Jenn: Yeah, for sure. And especially in the winter, you know, I'm not, I don't wanna be worried about my pipes freezing and bursting or something.

Meggan: right, right.

Jenn: So Rover, I, I looked into it. So Rover is actually available. All across Canada and in nine other countries, so U S A, Italy, the UK, France, other ones as well. And listen, I live in a small town, so if I could find multiple dog sitters in my tiny town, I'm sure you can find .

Meggan: If I could find somebody from.com in Liverpool, you'll be fine.

Jenn: Seriously. Yeah, I just, I, I have a lot of friends who have pets who have never. Of this service and actually another one of my friends used Rover. It typically they do dogs and cats. My friend used it for her cat and her chickens. She found someone to help her care for her chickens while she was traveling. So it's, it is really great. I'm gonna pop a little link in the shownotes. Um, Where if you book through it, you, you will save $20 on your first visit. In full transparency, I will get a $20 credit as well. Like, it's not, this is not sponsored by Rover. We just, we had a really good experience and I think a lot of people don't know that this is out there and I can't like say enough how amazing it is to know that your animals and your, your space, your home is being cared for while you travel. Like. It's just, it's so, such a great feeling. So that's it. That's all the tips that I have for today. Yeah, if you found this episode helpful if you could share the show with a travel loving pal. A travel loving pet parent, that would be amazing.
