Unlock Travel Discounts with Perkopolis
Does your work have a discount program, and if it does, do you know what it offers!? Perkopolis is one used by many bigger corporations here in Canada, as an example.
Many people have these types of work programs but don’t think to use them and are likely missing out on saving money!
Of course, being a travel podcast, we are most interested in the travel perks, and both of our workplaces offer some discounts on airlines and hotel stays.
Even your credit card, especially a travel points credit card, often has discounts, and we should be taking full advantage – it is part of the annual fee you likely pay for.
So check your work and credit card details and start saving money on travel NOW!

Jenn: [00:00:00] Hey everyone and welcome back to the Travel Tip Tuesday with the Travel Mug Podcast. I am Jenn and joined as always by my partner in podcasting, Meggan. Meggan, today I have some money saving tips and I'm excited to see if you've ever heard of these.
Meggan: Bring it on. We all love to save money.
Jenn: Yes. So if don't know, Meggan and I both work traditional type nine to five jobs. And while that sadly does mean that our vacation time is slightly limited, it does provide some benefits. And one of those benefits that is offered by my company is called Perkopolis. So Perkopolis. It's a website, provides discounts on everything from fashion to electronics to home stuff. But of course I was most excited about the travel benefits. Duh. So [00:01:00] what does it offer? Right now perkopolis offers discounts on WestJet flight, so that's exciting. It's like up to 15% off. Certain hotel brands um, and resorts, car rentals, airport parking, there's even discounts on theme park tickets to Universal and Lego Land.
So that's not nothing. They did have Disney tickets on there a couple of months ago. They seem like they're gone now, so things change. We are currently planning a trip to Ottawa and Montreal, and I've spotted a 20% off discount for a haunted walk in Ottawa.
Meggan: then you are gonna scoop up that discount. No one loves a haunted walk like you.
Jenn: that is true. So way we can get discounts is through one of my credit cards. So that offers an Avis Preferred Plus membership, which gets us five to 25% off discount on some car rental rates in Canada [00:02:00] and the us. And the credit card also gives us access to the Visa Infinite program, which has discounts on experiences, hotel discounts. There's a discount right now that's like stay three nights and the third night is free at certain hotels. So that's something. And like these programs might not save you a ton of money, but like every little bit counts, you know.
Meggan: It does.
Jenn: So, Meggan, have you ever heard of these programs? Have you ever used anything like it?
Meggan: Yeah,
So my old company that used to work for not my current one, I think also used Perkopolis. I'm a hundred percent sure. I dunno why I said I think I know. Um, and I did like hotel I think we used, and I think there was a car rental promo at one point, that we also utilized through Perkopolis. So if your company offers it. And they do change out. So like, keep on top of it. My current company now does have, um, air Canada, they offer a discount on that. I've not utilized it. but I will look into that going forward. 'cause once I saw your [00:03:00] topic today, I was like, huh. Because it, it is something, and I'm very guilty of not paying attention to it when I'm going to make my bookings just to have a quick peek and say, can I get a discount anywhere?
It really is worth it. And if it saves you $50 or whatever that matters. So I think that these are, are super important and if your company does offer them or your credit card has the perks, definitely take advantage because otherwise they're just laughing all the way to not having to pay out.
Jenn: Right.
Meggan: It's, it's like if you have benefits at work for like massage and stuff and you don't use it, well, they're happier, so you should be happier instead.
Jenn: Yeah. Take advantage. So that's all we have for this week's travel tip Tuesday.
