Jenn: Hey everyone. Welcome back to the Travel Mug Podcast. I'm Jenn, joined by my lovely co-host Meggan. And this is the final episode of the Travel Mug Podcast for 2022.

Meggan: Wow.

Jenn: I know, I know.

Meggan: Crazy.

Jenn: Uh, So we hope that you are having a restful and recharging December, and we're getting excited for 2023. So that's crazy. I can't believe that we're here already, but we just wanted to come and chat. This is gonna be a quick episode, say thank you, and talk about what's to come for the Travel Mug Podcast in the next year.

Meggan: Mm-hmm. .

Jenn: And of course, I want to start with some fun facts because

Meggan: as one does,

Jenn: we love a fun fact. So the most downloaded episode is a beginner's guide to Toronto.

Meggan: That surprises me like immensely. But I guess maybe an international audience or like even I guess North American wants to go to Toronto. I mean, and not that they shouldn't, but I'm just saying that being ,

Jenn: that that's the one ,

Meggan: it's lovely there. And I'm not saying that, but it, it is I guess out of everything. Just very interesting.

Jenn: Yeah, for sure. We had 10 new and returning guests on the podcast this year.

Meggan: Love that.

Jenn: I know we had some really great um, guest episodes and go check them out. They'll they'll be back in the uh, in the archieves.

Meggan: catelog

Jenn: Yes. And we launched the Travel Mug podcast website, well, the full website this year. So that was a big

Meggan: hard work on that. It's beautiful, Jenn.

Jenn: Thank you. And we actually traveled, we finally left the Country .

Meggan: That's the most exciting thing of all.

Jenn: That is the most exciting thing of all. So I went to Scotland and Disney, Meggan went to Maine Times three . She's making up her lost time.

Meggan: Yep.

Jenn: And she also went to Europe. We have podcast episodes about, All of those trips, it was amazing to do Trip Report episodes finally at two and plus years after starting a podcast.

Meggan: Yeah.

Jenn: And of course we explored more of our beautiful Nova Scotia too. So it was, it was a good. Travel year.

Meggan: Yeah, it was a big dive back into things I think.

Jenn: Hmm. So we are just starting to kind of think about our 2023 travel plans. We are hoping to get to Florida in the next few months. Our friends live there, so it's gonna be a bit of a different trip than what we usually do, cuz we usually go and we stay in the Disney bubble. But this time we're hoping to go and kind of stay with them and do a bit more florida exploring outside of the Disney bubble, but of course I'm gonna be at the parks because

Meggan: Sure.

Jenn: I can't help myself . I might even try Universal.

Meggan: Oh wow.

Jenn: I know.

Meggan: I've been there. It's lovely. You should go.

Jenn: I'd also really like to get to Chicago, which was supposed to be my 30th birthday trip in 2020. So we'll see. We'll see what we get up to. Hopefully some smaller kind of local-ish, maybe PEI type trips. As well. Cause I haven't been there in a long time too. So what are your travel plans, Meggan? What do you got going on the next year?

Meggan: So we already have two weeks in February booked to go to Cuba. We decided not to go to Europe this year. We're just wanna do a few different things. We may go to Maine again, but we're hoping instead to get down to Old Orchard Beach in Maine this year. Do something a little different there. Hopefully to Toronto to see some Blue Jays games.

Jenn: Good.

Meggan: And then see some friends while we're there as well. I would love to make it to Alberta to visit my sister, so potentially. But yeah, like after Cuba, I would say probably like North America stuff, you know what I mean? Like, there's no Europe stuff, so it'd be a bit of a different year, but different stuff to look forward to, which I think is good.

Jenn: Yes. It's funny. While we were kind of planning this episode I listened to our last episode of last year and kind of like what we had planned and we did, we did what we planned to do, like know funny cause it's just.

It's just really funny that you had been planning that Europe trip for so long. You're like, hopefully this year I got to do it and like you finally got to do it.

Meggan: Yeah.

Jenn: I actually, well, I was also planning a trip to Thunder Bay because I didn't think that Scotland was going to happen, but Scotland did happen. So I didn't end up going to Thunder Bay, which Good trade. .

Meggan: I'll take it for now. Thunder Bay's lovely, but Scotland. Yeah,

Jenn: much better. But I didn't make it to PEI which is funny because it's right there.

Meggan: But that's kind of what people do though.

Jenn: I know

Meggan: you know, that's why I've never spent as much time in New Brunswick as I had during the pandemic. It's because why would I? Yes. But then it's right there and it was lovely. So you only do stuff sometimes at a necessity, I find.

Jenn: Yes, and I, I think we, we got a dog in July, so that kind of changed things as far as travel for the rest of the year. . It's just a lot harder to go. But we have found some dog slash house sitters, which will make traveling a lot easier because we'll have someone who stays at our house and looks after our dog and our two cats.

And I, it'll just be easier because asking friends and family to look after your crazy dog is is a big ask.

Meggan: Love you, Lucy, but you're a bit cray, cray.

Jenn: She's playing at my feet right now. Just. Around on the floor, like biting my toes, .

Meggan: Amazing. Oh, I wish I could see that. So for next year, like obviously we have some trips planned, but we also like have a few podcast things planned. So Jenn, why don't you cover maybe the first point of what we're thinking.

Jenn: We're thinking merch We, which was on our list from last year. Yes. We're, we've been procrastinating. Yeah. Why don't we have a travel mug podcast, travel mug? I don't know, but this year. This year, this is the year 2023 is our year. You'll be able to buy a travel mug podcast travel mug.

Meggan: I, I can't wait. I'm gonna be first in line, like, we'll, we'll have to stand side by side in that line. Cause I, I definitely want one.

Jenn: Yeah.

Meggan: Another idea is maybe working with some great local brands in partnerships. So if you're listening and would love to partner with us reach out. Or if you do wanna recommend someone that you think could be a great brand fit for us, we'd love to hear from you. That as well. I mean, I think it would be, Cool to like, you know, a coffee company and we have travel mugs or something.

I think. I, I think this is the year that can happen too.

Jenn: Yes. Yeah. We've definitely grown a lot in the last year. And we have a lot more people and it's just, it's been really amazing. So thank you so much to the people that are listening because you know, we, we do have some ads going on right now, and it's only because of you listening that we're able to do that. And last up for 2023 more guests we're really excited. Although I love talking to you, Meggan, of

Meggan: I know

Jenn: course. It's really good to bring on some other people who have different expertise and talking about different places and I'm really excited we've got some people on the list lined up that I'm really excited to talk to them and I think they're gonna be really great helpful episode.

Meggan: Definitely. And then to finish the things off really, and like Jenn was just mentioning, this episode is really more about you like our listeners. So Jenn had the idea for this podcast. You know, we've come together and we have so much fun doing this, and we're so grateful, even really that one person listens to us blather on and have fun. But of course, like we do hope to continue to grow our fan base and keep providing more great travel information and inspiration in the years to come. We have such fun doing this, and I, I'm just so pleased that people enjoy spending time with us and listening to us, and hopefully we've inspired some people and give some good information and, and that's what, you know, that's what we're here to do. So thank you again. We really appreciate the support.

Jenn: Yes. Thank you so, so much. It, it really does mean the world to us. It's been- especially getting to chat with you on social media, like when you send us a message and it just, I, I still can't believe, I can't believe that people listen to us. When I look at our download numbers. I'm like, this many people, , listen to us.

Meggan: I know. I'm like, and the places that people are from are wild, like Japan, Tasmania, Australia, Bulgaria. Obviously our local listeners mean the world to us as well. But when you think the fact that there are people listening other places in the world is kind of mind boggling,

Jenn: it is wild. Absolutely wild. So,

Meggan: I know we're a delight, but an international delight. That's crazy. It really is .

Jenn: It really is.

Meggan: I know.

Jenn: So thank you so, so much. Like we said, this is just a really quick thank you episode, but we can't wait to spend more time with you in 2023. Having more trip reports to share and thank you, thank you, thank you so, so much. And happy holidays. Happy new Year, and we will talk to you in 2023 with new great episodes.

Meggan: Bye everyone.

Jenn: Bye!
