Jenn: hey everyone. Welcome back to travel tip Tuesday, travel mug pod.

Meggan: I have to do this when we talk about travel tip tuesday.

Jenn: I don't know if anybody's noticed that we do that if they're watching on a YouTube, but yeah, that's us, the head tilts. It's where it's at this travel tip tuesday is our little bonus episodes. So you don't miss us too much. Um, I know we haven't used them in a little while, but I want you to go find your passport right now. Like, go ahead. Pause this come back.

Meggan: We'll wait for you.

Jenn: Okay, welcome back. Hope you found it. I hope it wasn't too hard to find. It was probably in the bottom of a drawer or something like that.

Anyway, what I want you to do is check the expiry date on your passport, and you may think that as long as you're traveling before the expiry date, that you are good to go, but that my friends is not always the case. So most countries actually require that your passport doesn't expire within six months of your travel date.

Some countries are one month. Some are three months. Some are the expiry dates. They will have to do some research, but. It's kind of a jumbled mess out there of passport expired dates, which I find personally very annoying because like your 10 year passport is good for nine years and six months,

Meggan: but we'd love you to play thishandsome fee. Get a new one to last you another nine years and six months.

Jenn: But it, it can be a very costly mistake if you get to the airport and realize that your passport is not valid you might have to pay to expedite a new passport. You might miss your trip. You might have to pay to rebook your flight. Yeah, it's kind of a mess out there and I have more than one person I know has gotten to.

Yes. I have some friends that are I love them dearly, dearly, but they are not always on the ball

Meggan: Fly by the seat of their pants who don't pay attention to that.

Jenn: Yeah. I mean, you'd think that, like, your passport's not expired, so it's good, but that is just sadly, really annoyingly, not true.

Meggan: We should have named this podcast, travel mug podcast. Do your research. I was, I was just thinking about that. When you said to make sure you do your research for the countries, you're going to. Do your research

Jenn: tagline, do your research.

If you're planning to travel in 2022, which god, please let me out of this country, this,

Meggan: oh my God, please.

Jenn: And if your passport is due to expire soon, I would start there and you'll process ASAP because I've heard that it's taking longer than usual to get these things back because you know, the world is short-staffed blah, blah, blah.

Yeah, they're saying right now, 20 business days, plus mail time, but. Ooh,

Meggan: that's probably just like to make you feel better.

Jenn: Probably. Yeah, I don't know. Anyway, that is my travel mug tip Tuesday. Did you know about this rule before? Did I figured you did? Cause like you're, you're pretty good on the research thing

Meggan: I'm seasoned and I'm paranoid.

Those are two things that always keep me in check. Not that there aren't ever mistakes made, but like. Paranoid person about stuff like that. So yeah, all over that one. And I think I'm good till 2027.

Jenn: So I'm only good until 2025. So I got a couple more years, but I don't have too many more years.

Meggan: I hope you use it before then.

Jenn: Oh, please. Anyway. That is it for a short tip Tuesday happened a valuable one. It is very valuable. Hopefully at least you found your passport because you probably haven't used it.

Meggan: What if people like pause when to find their passport? Crap. I can't even find my passport. That's a whole different story.

We cannot help you there.

Jenn: I hope you found that check on or something. I don't know.

Meggan: Check it a suitcase you haven't used in two years. I don't know.

Jenn: All right, everybody have a good week and we'll chat with you soon. Bye.
